Life Legacy
Rapid City, Donald R. Parsons 72, formerly of Sturgis died Monday, April 18, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Sturgis 1st United Methodist Church 1755 Ball Park Road, with Rev. Howard W. “Skip” Smith officiating.
Don attended school at Provo High School, and then attended Chadron State College earning a degree in recreation. He played football and basketball while there, and was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” with the undefeated football team. Don’s love for sports carried over to his career as a Recreation Therapist at Ft. Meade Veterans Hospital, he also coached Little League and women’s softball.
Don was a great husband and father – many memories were made with his daughters Deb and Shari on ski trips, and backpacking in the Cloud Peak Mountains in WY.
Don had many friends, loved people, and life.
Survivors include his wife Veronica of Rapid City, daughters Deborah of Rapid City, Shari of Vail, CO, granddaughters Kassandra of Fort Hood, TX, Eryka and 2 great-granddaughters all of Rapid City, brothers Dick and his wife Linda of Rapid City, Jesse of Lovell, WY, his niece Kelly Scheurer of Rapid City, nephew David of Upton, WY, sister-in-law Eleanor and husband Lloyd DaHaai of Chadron, NE.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred, sister Lila, brother Kenneth.
