Life Legacy


Mary A (Kroetch) Potter 89 of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be 4:00pm until 7:00pm Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Black Hills Funeral Home with a Rosary to begin at 7:00pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Fr. Arnold Kari as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

Mary was born April 22, 1918 at Coeur DAlene, ID. She spent her early childhood at Kelly and Winnett, MT. She graduated from Billings High School and Townsend Beauty College. She worked in various areas of Montana. It was in Helena, MT that she met and married Rupert Potter, where they lived until he reenlisted in the Army. She had the pleasure of traveling Europe twice, and seeing much of the United States. She and her husband moved to Rapid City, SD in July 1963, after he retired from the Army. Mary enjoyed sewing and playing the organ. Her interest had also turned to becoming a Amateur Radio Operator.

Survivors include her husband Rupert (Buck) of Sturgis, four children, James Potter of Sturgis, Russell L. Potter of Knoxville, MD, Mary M. Hoffman of Mexico, Linda G. Clarke of Fernandina Beach, FL, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
